Worth to read!

This book was extremely helpful. It focused on the strategies that you can use to trade successfully. Each strategy section has definitions and explanations and is laid out the same way with the same visuals. You don't get lost going from one strategy to the next one since the author did such a good job of being consistent. I haven't seen these strategies done this way before. The charts used in this book are the actual charts the author is using to teach his strategies.

Disability is a broad, heterogeneous, and porous identity, and that diversity is reflected in the variety of bodily conditions under discussion here, including autism and intellectual disability, deafness, blindness, mobility impairment often coupled with bodily difference, and cognitive and intellectual impairments. Amid this diversity of time, place, style, medium, and topic, the chapters share two core commitments. First, they are united in their theoretical and methodological connection to Disability Studies, especially its central idea that disability is a social and cultural construction. Disability both shapes and is shaped by culture, including musical culture. Second, these essays individually and collectively make the case that disability is not something at the periphery of culture and music, but something central to our art and to our humanity.

About the Author

Jean Ure was born in Surrey and, when growing up, knew that she was going to be a writer or a ballet dancer. She began writing when she was six years old and had her first book published while she was still at school. Jean is a vegan and animal lover. She lives with her husband, seven dogs and four cats in a 300 year old house in Croydon.

This book was ok because on the blurb it says until I met Alex WHAM BAM!!!! That was when I was drifting into the clouds. It should say in the story when she had her first kiss coz it only said Aex gave me a kiss on my cheeks not how boyfriend and girlfriend kiss for ages.

True success and happiness belongs to those who master the art of creating their lives

The Oxford Dictionary describes transformation as "a thorough or dramatic change in form or appearance." Seems like a rather daunting undertaking -- until one reads "If I Can, You Can – Transformation Made Easy" by David Zelman PhD.

Dr. Zelman believes that a true self is a transformed self. In this book, he describes the Transitions Process and the four steps to transformation. Through the use of client stories and honest, personal stories from his own journey, we learn that by taking ownership of internal conversations, the ones we have 24/7, we can be free of our past and what's holding us back from a transformed future.

It's such an eye-opening awareness to realize how much our past-based conversations (verbally and mentally) affect our actions, our relationships, our careers, and our lives.

There's one part in the book where Dr. Zelman asks: "Do you want to know why you are the way you are? It's because you are the product of the sum of all the conversations you have ever had, plus the ones that are occurring right now!"

"If I Can, You Can" provides tools to achieve transformation. It's a simple, empowering process. And it is life changing.

I have been waiting for this book for 15 years!

My bias: I know David as a friend and mentor and I have taken his Transitions Course. That said, I am a professor at a health professions college and I use David's understanding of transformation in both my everyday work and in my own teaching to future health care professionals. David's understanding of automatic vs. internal conversations, and the way he is able to explain this in "If I Can, You Can" will be helpful to everyone in all walks of life and in all circumstances. His message is that we have the power to create the world we live in, and if we couple that understanding with our humanity and compassion, we can have a profound positive impact on ourselves and everyone we touch. But David's message goes far beyond health professions education - his message impacts every relationship that we are in. I wish our politicians were required to study with David before entering any political race! And every couple should meet with David before committing to marriage!

But the bottom line for me, knowing David as I do, the man is the real deal. These are not just words to him - this is the essence of HIS life and how he found a path to lasting satisfaction. He is the most alive person I know and spending just a few minutes with him can lift anyone's day. Read this book and if it resonates, create an internal conversation that leads you to one of David's workshops or courses.

David, thank you for writing this book. It will impact humanity.

I'm inspired and in invigorated action after reading David's book. David is a very good friend. We have worked together and been friends since 1981. David's message is consistent with and a powerful expression of what I live and what I teach in my leadership coaching and consulting business.

This book will be powerful for anyone ready for a brighter future professionally and/or personally. It is for those of us that have previously intentionally created breakthroughs in our lives and are ready to reignite or expand that energy and for people that may be exploring their true internal power for the first time. David - thank you for putting all of this in writing in such a useful format. Really great job!

With the success of his third book, Rain on the Wind, he became a full-time writer. His novels include Rain on the Wind and The Bogman, but he is probably best known for his trilogy Seek the Fair Land, The Silent People and The Scorching Wind. He also published a number of books for children. Known for his romanticised portrayal of the Irish and the portrait he painted of the colonial oppression of the people, Macken’s writings were a product of a more nationalistic time.

Ultan Macken is Walter Macken's son and the author of five books in his own right. He works at the Nation Curriculum Council and moves between Dublin & Galway on a regular basis. He has written extensively for national and regional newspapers. He worked on all sides of broadcasting as both research and reporter for numerous shows in RTE as well as spending a good deal of time with the RTE Guide. This publication follows his one-man film about his father, My Father, My Son.

Walter Macken was a Irish writer and actor (both in film and on Broadway) who also served as artistic director of the famed Abbey Theatre in Dublin. In this biography, his son Ultan Macken recounts his own personal memories of his father and draws on letters and other papers his father left to explore such parts of his life as childhood and school days in the west of Ireland, marriage and life in London, the publication of his first plays and novels, life in Dublin, from actor to full-time writer, major life changes in the late 1950s, the acclaim following the publication of the historical trilogy, his directorship at The Abbey Theater and the publication of Brown Lord of the Mountain. Great read overall.

Too basic.

I bought this book thinking it was a different approach to budget planning. It turns out the book is only a newer release of a budgeting workbook that I purchased written by Burkett with exactly the same contents. Only difference was book was larger and the title was changed. I would return this one and the previous one if possible.

"At my job, people die," writes Theresa Brown, capturing both the burden and the singular importance of her profession. Brown, a former English professor at Tufts University, chronicles here her first year as an R.N. in medical oncology. As she does so, Brown illuminates the unique role of nurses in health care, giving us a deeply moving portrait of the day-to-day work nurses do: caring for the person who is ill, not just the illness itself.

Critical Care takes us with Brown as she struggles to tend to her patients' needs, both physical (the rigors of chemotherapy) and emotional (their late-night fears). Along the way, we see the work nurses do to fight for their patients' dignity, in spite of punishing treatments and an often uncaring hospital bureaucracy. We also see how a twelve-hour day of caring for the seriously ill gives Brown herself a deeper appreciation of what it means to be alive. Ultimately, this is a book about embracing life, whether in times of sickness or health.

About the Author

Theresa Brown, R.N., lives and works in the Pittsburgh area. She received her B.S.N. from the University of Pittsburgh and, during what she calls her past life, a Ph.D. in English from the University of Chicago. Brown is a regular contributor to the New York Times blog "Well." Her essay "Perhaps Death Is Proud; More Reason to Savor Life" was included in The Best American Science Writing 2009 and The Best American Medical Writing 2009. Critical Care is her first book. She lives with her husband, Arthur Kosowsky, their three children, and their dog.

A Passable but Unexceptional Nursing Memoir

Theresa Brown has made a mid-life career change, trading in her job as an English professor in order to begin anew in nursing. "I liked teaching, and at times I found in enjoyable enough, but I never felt passionately about it, for better or for worse," says Brown of her previous career, and given the serviceable but bland prose in which she tells her story one is well able to believe that English was never her passion.

Brown is extremely enthusiastic about her new job, and she is proud of what she does. Perhaps a little too proud. Her descriptions of grateful patients and her own tenacious, mongoose-like determination to do absolutely anything for them may give more modest readers a twinge of displaced embarrassment. Throughout the book she shares a number of patient stories with accompanying philosophizing. The stories of suffering oncology patients are inherently touching; her philosophy is of the Chicken Soup for the Soul variety, certainly deeply felt but nothing out of the common way.

The book, despite being written by a medical professional, is sprinkled with inaccurate statements and downright false medical information. According to Brown, cholera causes lethal dehydration that "only IV fluids can control". In reality, literally millions of lives have been saved with oral rehydration therapy as a treatment for cholera. She says, with "100 percent certainty", that no doctor in the United States ever collects feces for occult blood sampling. This actually happens quite regularly during rectal exams in family practice, and in many other circumstances. These may seem like minor quibbles but one does not like to see this type of factual error, especially as Brown heavily emphasizes the importance of patient education.

The best part of the book, by far, is the chapter entitled "A Day on the Wards". Brown really captures the reality of a day of nursing, making this chapter a great read for people considering a nursing career or for those who are interested in learning more about medicine in practice. Overall, the book is perhaps best for those that are very new to the world of medicine. Those who have read medical memoirs or been heavily involved in health care as patients or medical professionals may not find much that is novel here. However, one thing is very clear; Theresa Brown is no doubt an excellent and dedicated nurse.
