About the Author
Dr. Thomas J. Goldsby is Professor of Logistics at The Ohio State University. Dr. Goldsby has published more than 50 articles in academic and professional journals and serves as a frequent speaker at academic conferences, executive education seminars, and professional meetings around the world. He is co-author of Lean Six Sigma Logistics: Strategic Development to Operational Success and Global Macrotrends and Their Impact on Supply Chain Management. He serves as Associate Director of the Center for Operational Excellence, research associate of the Global Supply Chain Forum, and a Research Fellow of the National Center for the Middle Market, all with The Ohio State University. Dr. Goldsby has received recognitions for excellence in teaching and research at Iowa State University, The Ohio State University, and the University of Kentucky. He is co-editor of the Transportation Journal and co-executive editor of Logistics Quarterly magazine. He serves on the boards for the American Society of Transportation & Logistics and Supply Chain Leaders in Action, the Research Strategies Committee of CSCMP, and as a reviewer for the Gartner Top 25 Supply Chains, LQ Sustainability Awards, SCLA Circle of Excellence Award, CSCMP Supply Chain Innovation Award, and University of Kentucky Corporate Sustainability Award programs. He has conducted workshops and seminars throughout North America, South America, Europe, Asia, and Africa.

Dr. Deepak Iyengar received his Ph.D. in the area of Logistics and Supply Chain Management from the University of Maryland, College Park. His areas of research and teaching include logistics and sustainability in supply chains. He is currently an Assistant Professor at Central Washington University, Ellensburg in the Department of Supply Chain Management. Dr. Iyengar has published works in leading supply chain and logistics journals like Journal of Business Logistic, I nternational Journal of Physical Distribution & Logistics Management, and Transportation Journal, to name a few. In addition, he has mentored students and led projects using the methodology of Lean Six Sigma to various 3PLs.

Dr. Shashank Rao is the Jim W. Thompson Assistant Professor of Supply Chain Management at Auburn University. He holds a B.S. in Environmental Engineering, an M.B.A. in Marketing, and a Ph.D. in Operations and Supply Chain Management. Along with his academic training, Dr. Rao has several years of industry experience in the banking and engineering sectors. He has also served as a consultant to manufacturers and retailers on issues like order fulfillment and distribution management. His research interests focus on retailing, order fulfillment, and logistics customer service. He has published several articles in academic and professional journals of repute such as the Journal of Operations Management, Journal of Business Logistics, International Journal of Logistics Management, International Journal of Physical Distribution and Logistics Management, Industrial Management, Industrial Engineer, and more. He also serves on the Editorial Review Board of the Journal of Business Logistics, the Journal of Supply Chain Management, and the Journal of Operations Management, along with serving as an Associate Editor at the Journal of Organizational Computing and Electronic Commerce. He is a frequent speaker at academic conferences, executive education seminars, and professional meetings, and also conducts hands-on training on supply chain technologies like TMS, ERP, and Routing Systems.

This guide serves a good general overview of the field and is well written

I've been in the transportation career field since early 1998. Through out the course of my carreer I've worked as a technical manager in military logistics, commercial transportation sales and logistics, and now regulatory compliance. Throughout the course of my career in transportation I've attended many formal courses and referenced many guides.

This guide serves a good general overview of the field and is well written. What I enjoy the most is the author's use of clear strait forward prose. It's not a padded text book full of irrelevant details yet it offers enough to point you in the right direction for further study. I highly recommend this work as a primer.

I would have liked to have seen at least one chapter dedicated to the transportation of hazardous materials which presents many unique challenges to supply chain managers. Additionally, while I believe that sometimes "less is more" I think that each mode of transportation deserved at least a chapter length of insight relevant to each mode. In any case, I look forward to more works produced by these authors.

It's more of a promotion for "The 5 Love Languages" and often blurs lines between different languages in how they differ.

I've read Chapman's acclaimed "The Five Love Languages" and I enjoyed his book very much...This, however, was confusing and felt more promotional than informative and educational. I agree with what a few other reviewers have said--that "Sacred Pathways" by Gary Thomas--is a better way of understanding how you worship and how you perceive God's love, and also that this book felt most like a promotion for his other works rather than focusing on his thesis for this book. I found that most of the time reading this book the differences between quality time and words of affirmation are very similar in the examples he uses, so it becomes very confusing. It might help some people, but it didn't help me much. I'm frankly disappointed because after reading his other books I expected more out of this one.

Not as deep as I had hoped it would be

I love the idea of this book so much. It just didn't really get to the depths I was hoping for. While he hits on certain ways God may be speaking our Love Language to us, there seem to be so many more examples that could have drawn readers in to God's love.

The best part about this book was the way it encouraged me to think about the many ways God speaks our Love Language to us (beyond what's actually suggested in the book). It has helped me in my evangelization efforts to desire to connect each person I encounter with the expression of God's love that will best resonate with them.

God speaks your love language wasn't what I expected considering I love everything Gary Chapman writes. This is more of an overview of the original 5 love languages placed in the context of feeling and reflecting God's love. For someone like myself who has read and will continue to support Dr. Chapman's work, this was just another book added to the collection. However, I would strongly recommend this work for new believers, or those unfamiliar with the 5 love languages.

About the Author
Danica McKellar is the bestselling author of Kiss My Math, Hot X: Algebra Exposed, and, most recently, Girls Get Curves. Best known for her roles on The Wonder Years and The West Wing, Danica McKellar is also an internationally recognized mathematician and advocate for math education. A summa cum laude graduate of UCLA with a degree in Mathematics, Danica has been honored in Britain’s esteemed Journal of Physics and The New York Times for her work in mathematics, most notably for her role as co-author of a groundbreaking mathematical physics theorem, which bears her name (The Chayes-McKellar-Winn Theorem.) Imagine "Teen Cosmo" publishing INTRO TO MIDDLE-SCHOOL MATH

When I was seven, my mother got a Mathematics degree. At 29, I got my own Mathematics degree—and of 60 people that day who got Math bachelor degrees then and there with me, only three were women. My mother proved, and those three co-graduating women proved, and Danica proves now, that women can learn math. But that's not what middle-school and high school girls think, is it? Most teen girls think they're math-morons.

Danica has written this book for such math-panicked teen girls—Danica has written this book not only to TEACH them, but to ENCOURAGE them: "You can learn this!"

The math covered in Danica's book is middle-school level—Danica presumes that the reader already knows how to add, subtract, multiply, and divide; then Danica takes the reader up through Algebra I. Danica's math is solid; and Danica's explanations, easy to understand.

But this is not your brother's math book. If you flipped through the book quickly, not reading the text, the illustrations and all the girly-handwriting would make you think that it was a book about teen fashion. The book also has chapter headings like no other math book I've seen—Chapter 7, for instance, is entitled, "Is Your Sister Trying to Cheat You Out of Your Fair Share? (Comparing Fractions)." Chapter 9, on complex fractions, starts out, "Say you're trying on an outfit for a party. You've got the dress, the shoes, and the earrings—and now you're choosing the right necklace...."

Danica also includes three "testimonials" (profiles) of young women who are successful in their careers because they've mastered math. Rather than show three nerdettes, the three women profiled are BABES.

To me, the most amazing thing about her book is that she tells the "blank quiz" story about herself: In a seventh-grade math class, "[w]hen the bell rang and my quiz was still blank, I wanted to disappear into my chair. I just didn't want to EXIST."

When I read this book, I learned something. Not about math, but about people. Middle-school girls, in particular. I give this book a 4.99999999999999999...-star rating.

Makeup and math? Hallelujah!

What will this book teach your daughter? That she can work out math problems by herself. That she can learn to love math, and even excel at it. And that she can do these things while still being every bit as girlie as she wants to be. Makeup and math? Yes, this book says, you can love them both.

Will girls read it? I think so, because, unlike so many academic texts, "Math Doesn't Suck" is so much more than a study guide. Author McKellar -- yes, Winnie Cooper from "The Wonder Years" but also a summa cum laude math grad from UCLA -- combines a step-by-step approach to middle-school math concepts with lots of personal anecdotes (such as how she once struggled with particular math problems) as well as stories of how other feminine women have excelled in the subject. Also adding some insight is McKellar's 12-year-old goddaughter, Tori.

Best of all, McKellar makes her points well. Each chapter is devoted to just one topic (i.e., decimals, or factoring) and uses real-life situations (baby-sitting, shopping) that really make things easy to understand.

Overall the book's chapter titles are a little too pink-and-purple for my tastes, but then again I'm not the target audience. I'm not 13, striving to define myself while getting Paris Hilton, the Pussycat Dolls and Hooters commercials driven into my brain. Girls can be smart AND feminine? Math is for them? Say amen, somebody!

Tested out of 2 Math College classes with this book

I am a 38-year old mother of 5 who recently decided to go back to school. I took my placement test and tested into the lowest class available which was Basic Math. I was told that I could retake the test so I went to the library and checked out a bunch of math books to study and get prepared. I found Danica's book "Math Doesn't Suck" I read it first and read the entire book in one night. I loved it and everything began to make sense. I studied it for 2 weeks then went back and took my test again and tested into Intro to Algebra! I essentially skipped Basic Math and Pre-Algebra! This achievement has brought me renewed confidence in myself at a time when I need it most! It has saved me money and time that is so valuable to me. I live in Southern Ohio and am attending Hocking College! I am excited to read "Kiss my Math". Also I was told that she is writing a 3rd book in an email from her company. Thanks for writing a book that actually makes sense!
