As many laughs as the previous books, but more ZING!

You'd think it would be easy for me to write a review of a book I loved, but, strangely, these are the hardest to write because I can't even find the words to do it justice. Plus, I don't want to be spoiler-y. That's no fun. I went into this book only having read a few teasers that Penny Reid had posted on Facebook and such and I was pleasantly surprised by the direction in which she took her hero, Alex. I want to talk about Alex... Oh, boy, do I ever want to talk about ALEXANDER GREENE. But first, let's talk about Sandra a bit.
Not to sound repetitive-- but I think it's worth mentioning that Penny Reid has my forever devotion simply because she manages to always give me a heroine I can love. It is NOT a given that I will like a heroine. I usually have an issue or two (or three) with the heroine of any book I'm reading at the moment. As an added bonus, Sandra really didn't do anything to make me scream at her, either. She was cautious when I would have been cautious, she was all-in when I would have been, she was the perfect balance of pushy and patient. Smart, witty, sexy...I just loved Sandra.
Now... let us get to the crux of the matter. The *ahem* MEAT (pun intended) of a romance novel-- The Hero. Penny Reid is even more deserving of the aforementioned eternal devotion because she has given me my new book boyfriend. What? You don't think that's worth eternal-forever-devotion? Well, consider that she wrote this (as she has her other Knitting in the City books) from the heroine's POV. I can't usually fall in love too deeply with a hero without being in his head, but she made it happen. Remarkable. PLUS--spoilerishy, but not really-- Alex is young. Usually M/C's that are young are a major turn-off to me. I have no interest in the drama of the youth. That ship has sailed. The Cougar-slash-Young-Stud fantasy isn't on the top of my list, either. But Alex and Sandra aren't one-dimensional characters. They aren't ridiculous in any way. Sandra's not a desperate cougar and Alex isn't callow or infantine--not by any stretch of the imagination.
There's so much I want to say about Alex. Without giving too much away, I can say that Alex is different. Different in the way that Janie (the heroine from Neanderthal Seeks Human) is different. Ultra-intelligent, attractive, but not exactly socially adept. I don't mean to imply that he is awkward, because he's not. He's just strange. He's without guile--yet completely guarded. Straight-forward and cagey all at once. He's simply not like any other hero I've read before--certainly not like any of my previous book boyfriends--except that he is oh, so very sexy and endowed with an abundance of possessiveness over Sandra. Let me tell you that it all makes for a captivating and smokin' HOT hero.
Speaking of hot, I need to say that this is Penny Reid's sexiest Knitting in the City to date. To Ms. Reid, I need to shout a hearty: "Well done!" I'm all for sexy-times and Sandra and Alex brought the heat. Even when they weren't engaging in sex it was sexy.
I feel as if I'm rambling now, so I'm going to sum it up. Unusual-but-great-hero. Funny and loveable heroine. Steamy and romantic, and having a really great story and conflict. Also, I can't forget that the Knitting and Security crew's part in the book added extra enjoyment. I loved seeing Janie and Quinn and Elizabeth and Nico, but I also liked learning more about the others and the hints of what is possibly to come for them in future books. So my summary is rambling too, sorry.
It's great. Go read it now. Seriously.

AWESOME BOOK!!! Love Hacked is an amazing story, and if you are having any doubts about reading the book from the summary, trust me, it really doesn't get better than this!
Smart, sassy Sandra, a child psychiatrist,is looking for Mr. "Sunday sweater vest wearing, investor banker, golf playing" Right. In doing so, she finds these men who are put together so well on the outside, but are messes on the inside. She also meets Mr. "I set your ladies parts a-quivering, and no one in their right mind would call me Mr. Right" Hot Muffin. So, basically the put together girl (Sandra) takes a chance with the broken boy (Alex). She denies all reasoning and common sense, takes a courageous step, and makes the relationship work. In other books, she would fix him, but I love how the author doesn't take that approach.
In a word, this book was brilliant for many different reasons. First of all, the characters are brilliant. The hero isn't your typical hero. He is a genius, but he also has qualities that make me think of Asperger's Syndrome. He's extremely intelligent to the point where his intellect is above even Dennis Miller, but he has these extremely honest responses to situations that are considered weird. He makes geekiness sexy.
And Sandra... she's just so courageous and real. I hate how other authors take these strong women and make them emotional cowards. Sandra is not one of them. The readers feel her vulnerability. They see her struggle, but she doesn't BS herself. She realizes that even though there is so much to lose, there's so much to gain.
There are also nice touches of having the knitting group play a pivotal role. They are so funny that I want to start my own knitting group, knitting not required, but a love for wine, quirks, and witty remarks mandatory.
So, all in all. Get this book. Read it. It will give you a book high, but a bit of a warning. It will be so good, it might ruin you for other books--it was that good.

Once upon a time a shrink met a computer genius... and... FIREWORKS!

When you approach a novel by Penny Reid there are three thighs you need to know:
1) You're going to laugh. Starting with a soft chuckle and ending to laugh your ass off.
2) Her stories are unconventional and her sense of humor wonderfully eccentric.
3) You'll fall madly, truly, deeply in in love with her Heroes... and the Heroines, too.
Alex and Sandra couple is explosive!
The more you read the more the story sucks you into their lives. Be ready for some heavy book hangover once you've finished reading it!
Alex is a genius. A freaking handsome, with Olympic swimmer shoulders (It seems Penny knows all my fantasies o.O Fist Nico and his apple fritters, now Alex and his shoulders... *Swoony sight*), computer hacker. Oh, and he has THE VOICE ;)
BUT, I fell in love with his brain. It's true, I swear
