Edwin Tunis (1897–1973) was born in Cold Spring Harbor, New York, and spent much of his life in Maryland. A well-known artist, illustrator, and muralist, his work appeared at the Baltimore Museum of Art, the Society of American Etchers, the National Academy of Design, and the Victoria and Albert Museum. His other books include Colonial Craftsmen; Colonial Living; Weapons; Oars, Sails and Steam; and Wheels, all available in paperback from Johns Hopkins.

A great history lesson

A wonderful insight to the life of Quakers in the 1600's. I was highly excited to read of Tom Canby being the first man to run a ferry on the Delaware River. This Tom Canby is one of my ancestors and a nephew of mine, David Wilson followed in his steps, just retiring from working as a captain on a ferry out of Seattle, Washington.

great story about henry baker , the reason it made it more interesting he was my GGGGGGG grandfather , I have been tracing his and his relatives all the way to here Australia , the book helped fill a lot of gapes.
