A final end to an excellent series.

The good news is that this is definitely the last volume of the Clifton Chronicles (as if you'd need to be told this after reading the title of this volume). There's no cliffhanger ending, and all the loose threads have been tied off, including the big one - whether Harry Clifton and Emma Barrington are brother and sister (and they'd committed incest in marrying) or not.

The cliffhanger ending of the previous novel proceeded more or less as expected in this one, so there weren't any surprises.

Jeffrey Archer could have done with a proofreader of the quality Harry Clifton enjoyed in this novel. Some of the medical details he includes are just wrong, and even if they were, events wouldn't have happened the way described (I won't reveal the details in case it's a spoiler). Anyway - a Sotheby's auctioneer would never refer to the Emperor Jiaqing (Jiaqing is the name of an era, not a person). It's the Jiaqing Emperor.

It's a very satisfying series. In a few years, I'll probably go back and reread them, one after the other (it's actually the best way of reading them - not having to wait a year for each new one to be published).

and it is the one that launched my love of reading

First, you must understand that I view Jeffrey Archer as a god (lower case is intentional...I'm not a complete heretic); Kane and Abel was the first book I ever read for pleasure, and it is the one that launched my love of reading. Lord Archer remains my favorite author, and I'm proud to declare that I've read everything he has published for the general public. However, "This Was a Man" was clearly written with an intent to just tying up loose strings. Sorry, but it was disappointing...I still wouldn't have skipped it...But I expect more from "the master". Please don't hate me Jeff, you're still totally awesome.

Predictable.

It is clear Archer has grown weary of the Clifton and Barrington families. The elements that drew me to the series when I stumbled across the first book have been sorely lacking in the last few. The only reason to read this book is to have closure. I will miss the characters, although they had become just shadows of their former selves. Time to move on.

This story is packed full of love, passion, suspense, and pulling out all the stops for those you love!

Saving Angel is the follow up to A New Beginning, a debut novel by Brenda Kennedy. This is a series that needs to be read in order for full understanding and enjoyment. But no worries! After you read A New Beginning you will be scrambling to get your hands on this book, Saving Angel!

Saving Angel picks up where A New Beginning leaves off, and then it is off to the races! These books do not disappoint. You will be hooked from the very first words until you get to the very last page and then you are hanging on to find out what happens next!

When Angel's past catches up to her and lands her beaten and battered in the hospital, yet again at the hands of Jim. What will she do next? Can Mason protect her? Will she let him? What would you do to protect the man you love from the man who is convinced you belong to him?

It is hard to believe that Brenda Kennedy is a new author. After reading her first book and being hooked on Angel and Mason's story, I knew I would love this one as much -- I couldn't put it down!

Saving Angel, was well written, heart felt and has left me craving the release of "Destined to Love".

Brenda Kennedy is a very talented author that I look forward to reading a lot more from.

A great second book taking over where the first book left off. More about the characters and their beginnings and lots more action.. This new author really has talent to share her imagination..and its really enjoyable. Can't wait till the next one which is the third in this trilogy. When one book ends, with its cliffhanger, its hard to wait on the next..wondering which way the story will go.. Keep them coming Brenda..

It's rare to find a book with no redeaming qualities.

What I expect to get from a book on printing would a lot of information about color management, output sharpening, paper selection, and some things I probably never thought about. The color management chapter starts off with an explanation as to why the authors aren't going to "waste" time and space in their book on color management, stating it's "the most demanding subject in digital photography", but it's covered in many other books so if you want to learn about it you should buy a book about it. When I got to the part about sharpening, they provided no information other than it's important and one of the authors happens to have written a book about it that you should buy. They do provide a list of papers they "like", but virtually no useful information about them. Most of them only had a brief sample of the technical data provided by the manufacturer with no comments. And the ones that did have comments were brief like "Great. One of our favorites", or "Very sharp".

The bulk of the book is actually screenshots of how to use various pieces of software and hardware, taking up a lot of space but providing virtually no or little information. Since the book was published in 2006, and it's now 2012, all of the screenshots and accompanying text is obsolete. And even back in 2006, this information is basic information that would be included with the instructions for the device you bought.

Excellent if you make fairly large prints

I bought this book (1) because I'm planning on buying a new printer capable of making fairly large prints and I want to get the best out of it and (2) because I've read other things Uwe Steinmueller has written and have admired his HDR photographs. The book combines information about color management, which you get in almost any moderately advanced text, with information that's specific to printing, notably on paper selection and workflow. It's a useful combination of topics. the text is well written and the illustrations are printed very well and are useful.

You do have to have familiarity with Photoshop CS 2 or later. Befroe you print, take the author's advice about calibrating your monitor, and especially about setting the brightness.

There's a logical progression from calibrating your printer up through printing and presenting the work. Although there is a lot of detail, it's presented well enough so that you don't drown in it.

The only criticism I have is that the first 55-60 pages seem to have been written or perhaps revised without good editing, so there's some annoying duplication of information about paper weight and thickness, among other things. Apart from that, it's an excellent manual for making prints suitable for display.

All the information you need

This book is a great resource for anyone interested on printing their own photos on an inkjet printer. It covers inks, papers, printers and their use. It explains the various terms used in the printing process and where they apply. I can't imagine getting more usable info from any single source. It is easy enough for an amateur like me to understand, but I bet there are experts out there that could learn a lot from this book also. The chapters are layed out well, there is a huge glossary, and a section on additional resources. This book is worth 3 times the cost.

About the Author
Joe Chamblin was born in Florida and raised in southern Ohio where he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps at age 18. He served 15 years in the Marines and almost 10 of those as a Scout Sniper. He is a veteran of action in Albania in the Balkans, Iraq and Afghanistan. He also served in a handful of other countries while serving with various units during his time in the Corps. While on his last deployment to Afghanistan with 3rd Battalion 2d Marines in 2011 his Scout Sniper Platoon delivered a devastating toll on the enemy, inflicting well over 300 enemy KIA and numerous other casualties. It was on this deployment is also where the YouTube video was taken. �Joe was the leader of the team involved and one of the Marines in the infamous "Marine Urination Video Scandal". He has now broken his silence in order to ensure his Marines entire stories are told. Stories of his men's courage, sacrifice and heroism that has become unjustly over shadowed by a 39 second video. The men of 3rd Battalion 2d Marines Scout Sniper Platoon deserve for the world to know the rest of their story.

Great story of real warriors on todays battlefield

Great story of real warriors on todays battlefield. Due to the innovative work they did, countless lives were saved. If you are a military buff or just interested in a true story of a group of warriors, you must read this book. The men of 3/2 Scout Sniper Platoon drastically changed the dynamics of the battlefield and turned the tides against the enemy. THAT is what they need to be remembered for, not some 17 second video that became a political game. Great work Joe.

About the Author

Hans Augusto Rey was born in Hamburg, Germany in 1898. As a child, he spent much of his free time in that city's famous Hagenbeck Zoo drawing animals. After serving in the army during World War I, he married Margret Rey and they moved to Montmartre for four years. The manuscript for the first Curious George books was one of the few items the Reys carried with them on their bicycles when they escaped from Paris in 1940. Eventually, they made their way to the United States, and Curious George was published in 1941. Curious George has been published in numerous languages. And many, many Curious George books have followed.

Great Board Book!

We love this book and read it often. We've had it several years now. Note this is a board book, which is much more durable for younger children. A great way to introduce Curious George to tots! I've read it multiple times and do not get tired of it. Curious George sees a guy going fishing, and it looks so interesting that he wants to also. He makes his own fishing pole and gets a little creative with the bait too! Very happy with the quality of the book, and very pleased with the story itself! The pictures were wonderful and the text was just the right amount and worded nicely for young children.

A Wonderful Little Book!

I purchased this little book as a companion gift to the Paz - Ready Set Learn fishing kit. I was surprised that it has a cardboard cover and pages. It's a very durable little book w/great illustrations. Our 3 yr old neighbor is thrilled w/it!

While the book isn't wholly without merit, it probably is the Worst FISHING Book Ever.
It isn't really about fishing at all; and ultimately, it is about quitting.
In the end, George repurposes the fishing line as a kite string. Groan.

Learned a lot...and had fun while doing so

I bought this book hoping to take steps from mid-level ActionScripter to a more advanced coder. In a world of how-to books that just regurgitate the same ol' techniques this one not only met, but it exceeded my expectations. I was hoping to improve my techniques for interactivity and thought a book on ActionScript gaming would be the quickest, most thorough and most fun way to do it and this book came through big time. Great examples, and good explanations of every step taken. Sometimes I needed more of an explanation but I think that's a trade-off of having more examples. So not really a complaint since I can find explanations online, but good examples are far more scarce. An absolute must-have...as someone said even if you are not into gaming. I'll also add that its still a must-have despite ActionScript 3 being out...but hopefully they put out a new edition covering that.

To respond to the negative reviews: 1. Want to see classes and OOP...that would be an issue if this book claimed to be an AS3 book, but considering it is AS2, when OOP and classes weren't as en vogue, I don't think that is a valid complaint. 99% of Flash CS2 books hardly mentioned classes and didnt code that way. 2. Bad habits/naming conventions...I didn't think so but I think that is a preference and if you don't like his "style" no one is forcing you to continue coding that way after you finish the book. Every author has their own style, and I didn't think his coding broke any conventions. 3. Nothing you can't learn yourself...just not true. I've found a lot of great stuff online, but it was a big help and hugely time-saving to have this wealth of info in one place AND with great instruction...and a bonus general ActionScript chapter that is better than many Flash books out there!

Lacking in so many ways

This book has several inconsistencies, broken code, and an outdated website. Within the second game I quickly noticed that the author cited a section of code two different ways (j%4)+1 and (j)%4+1, that is a pretty big mistake considering that the simple swap in parenthesis causes the code to run entirely different.

I also noticed that game #3 doesn't even work right. The author obviously didn't even test his own code. When you click the start button it needs to reset the fadercnt variable, or the game won't register multiple wins/losses correctly.

On to the website, there is a contact us link that requires a captcha before it will send. I've tried 3 different browsers and 4 computers and there is no captcha, therefore making it impossible to send an email to the author.

I am highly opposed to wasting money on this book.

I got this years ago for a college class, worked well for that. Probably much newer and better ones now
